Good Afternoon

Well, what can we say?
It seems a little strange to be talking all about us, when really and truly, our business is all about you: your home, your move and your experience. But to give you some background: Shepherd’s first opened in Hertford on February 14th 1976 – Valentine’s Day. At the time, the average sale price in Hertford was about £14,000; a pint of beer was 32p; and everything we did was hand written or typed …and when the existence of private landlords was still a rarity.

While today’s house prices are unrecognisable and technology has transformed the way property is marketed – let’s not even discuss the cost of a pint! – the fundamental principles of exceptional customer service and doing right by everyone remain as strong today as the day we opened. Possibly why we’ve been here so long. Shepherds has been a thoroughly modern and thoroughly local estate agent for every day of its considerable lifetime. We’ve consistently sought out new technologies and always remained open to change, with a team of people who live in – and love – the neighbourhood.

Most of all, Shepherds is built on a simple and timeless formula: helpful local people, helping local people move.

Watch our heart-warming celebration of the town we work in, live in and love

Make the most of your weekend with Shepherds of Hertford

The weekend is when most people are off work and available to look at property, and when Hertford’s town centre is busiest. So it’s essential to open on Saturday and Sunday to seize and capitalise on potential opportunities. Weekends are perfect for Open Days and to arrange multiple viewings in straight succession to generate maximum enthusiasm and commitment from buyers. Sundays provide an extra opportunity to keep up momentum from any Saturday activity, instead of waiting till Monday.

Shepherds Estate Agents

Got nothing but excellent service. Thank you so much. nIan & Natalie

Shepherds Estate Agents

nWe bought a retirement property via Shepherds recently. Very good service, with Abi keeping us in touch throughout the purchase process and always willing to chase down answers to our questions.

Shepherds Estate Agents

Superb service and great communication throughout the sale of my property

Shepherds Estate Agents

I would recommend Shepherds to anyone wanting to sell/buy a property. From the first valuation meeting (with David) they have been excellent and professional, going above and beyond expectations. Communication and legal help from Abi has been first-class during the sale and Paula has been excellent with liaising/organising all viewings. I cannot fault them in any way and the whole team pulled together to bring about an unexpectedly long sale process to a successful conclusion. We thank them all.

Shepherds Estate Agents

Excellent from start to finish. The team managed what could have been a stressful purchase superbly. I'm extremely grateful for the help and service provided. Thanks

Shepherds Estate Agents

The process of selling your home can be a stressful one, but Shepherds helped me through the whole thing. I'm not saying I took all their advice, but that was also part of the support process. nThey worked out pretty quickly how to communicate with me, so a late call was returned, rather than me having 8 missed calls. I would recommend them to anyone local to use them as they have an amazing knowledge of the area, but also those from afar as they can keep you safe from the pitfalls. nThank you and good luck in the future.

Shepherds Estate Agents

My girlfriend and I recently purchased a property through Shepherds, from the very beginning the service was amazing. We found our property on Rightmove, the property was actually advertised with 2 estate agents however we chose to call Shepherds due to their professionalism with regards to the advertisement, they did not disappoint. The viewing and initial stages were with David who was approachable and very easy to deal with, as we progressed with the sale we transferred over to sales progressor Abi. Abi was extremely helpful throughout, our emails were answered quickly and thoroughly every time. nThank you once again for the amazing service and we look forward to dealing with you sometime again in the future. nWe would Highly Recommend.

Shepherds Estate Agents

We let our property through Shepherds for a number of years and therefore gave them the opportunity to sell it, before offering it to any other agents. nA buyer was found quickly in a difficult market, negotiation was pleasing and the sale went through smoothly with the support of the office staff.

Shepherds Estate Agents

I was very happy with the way Shepherds dealt with the sale of my property, Abi kept me informed and all the staff there were very helpful and friendly. nWould definitely recommend Shepherds.

Shepherds Estate Agents

I recently sold my house through Shepherds, it went very well with David, Abi & the team dealing with the process and chasing the buyer's solicitor where necessary. nThe solicitor they recommended for me, (Braddon & Snow) were also very professional. nAll in all, they made what could have been a stressful experience straight forward. nI have no hesitation in recommending Shepherds of Hertford.

Shepherds Estate Agents

A Very Professional Service and Very Helpful and Friendly Staff

Shepherds Estate Agents

Shepherds were the 3rd agent we used to advertise our house for sale after we'd tried an online agent who went into administration and a local agent who were nice but couldn't get many offers. Shepherds came along and were very different to other agents as they were very thorough and detailed. Their post sales services with Abi assisting during our contact negotations was fantastic and really helped us out. We would thoroughly recommend Shepherds.

Shepherds Estate Agents

Shepherds managed the sale of our late parents' house which was also the home we grew up in. It was a difficult time for us, but David and Abi looked after us extremely well and managed the process as smoothly as possible. The team are both professional and personable and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Shepherds Estate Agents

Service was excellent from start to finish. Peter took a lot of care to get the best photos and even came back on a sunnier day to improve on outside views. David gave good advice in the negotiations and we felt in solid hands as Abi was always on the ball with progressing things along and gave excellent communication throughout. Would recommend.

Shepherds Estate Agents

We recently bought an investment property through Shepherds. Having used (and experienced) a wide variation of estate agents in recent years, we found the team - and in particular David Simpson, the managing director - to be entirely professional, discreet and very client-focused. All communication was measured and unobtrusive, yet always timely and informative. The purchase ran smoothly and without stress. If you value seamless and professional property services then I would have no hesitation in recommending Shepherds. Well done.
