Good Afternoon

Well, what can we say?
It seems a little strange to be talking all about us, when really and truly, our business is all about you: your home, your move and your experience. But to give you some background: Shepherd’s first opened in Hertford on February 14th 1976 – Valentine’s Day. At the time, the average sale price in Hertford was about £14,000; a pint of beer was 32p; and everything we did was hand written or typed …and when the existence of private landlords was still a rarity.

While today’s house prices are unrecognisable and technology has transformed the way property is marketed – let’s not even discuss the cost of a pint! – the fundamental principles of exceptional customer service and doing right by everyone remain as strong today as the day we opened. Possibly why we’ve been here so long. Shepherds has been a thoroughly modern and thoroughly local estate agent for every day of its considerable lifetime. We’ve consistently sought out new technologies and always remained open to change, with a team of people who live in – and love – the neighbourhood.

Most of all, Shepherds is built on a simple and timeless formula: helpful local people, helping local people move.

Watch our heart-warming celebration of the town we work in, live in and love

Make the most of your weekend with Shepherds of Hertford

The weekend is when most people are off work and available to look at property, and when Hertford’s town centre is busiest. So it’s essential to open on Saturday and Sunday to seize and capitalise on potential opportunities. Weekends are perfect for Open Days and to arrange multiple viewings in straight succession to generate maximum enthusiasm and commitment from buyers. Sundays provide an extra opportunity to keep up momentum from any Saturday activity, instead of waiting till Monday.

Shepherds Estate Agents

From beginning to end, a perfect transaction, in a short time frame. Absolutely no problems, we were kept fully informed at every stage and notified of every visit to the property by email, which I found very helpful. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Shepherds Estate Agents

Excellent experience from start to finish. We purchased through Shepherds and the team were a pleasure to deal with. David was honest and open in the negotiations which made things easy, and once we had an offer accepted their after sales was first rate. Roz makes sure no box is left unticked and did everything to help us complete in the timescales we needed. nI wouldn't have any hesitation in working with Shepherds again in the future.

Shepherds Estate Agents

Shepherds sold our property within a week. From the moment we first asked shepherds to become involved we knew we were in good hands. The photographs and associated sale literature was exceptional, our buyers even commented on how good it was. Then covid-19 struck! We thought that was the end of that. However Shepherds carried on contacting us and left us feeling reassured. The sale went through with the hard work and dedication of the whole team. We would recommend Shepherds to anyone who wants great genuine friendly service.

The sale of our properties was smooth and painless. We were kept informed and the whole process was much quicker than we had anticipated. Very efficient in these difficult times and we would recommend them.

Shepherds Estate Agents

David and his team helped and guided us through what should’ve been a stressful ordeal - moving house. However, the professional and reliable team enabled a smooth process. A special thanks to Roz too.

Shepherds Estate Agents

Always easy to get hold of, really communicative throughout the whole process and just great to deal with overall!

Shepherds Estate Agents

Shepherd of Hertford have been unbelievable. To say our move was difficult is an understatement from finding a house that didn't get finished in time, to a house that accepted our offer 3 times only to pull out three times. The whole time Shepherds were amazingly supportive and kept our buyers in place until we could find a place to call home. David at Shepherds and his whole team treated us like friends instead of clients and they supported us through the whole journey. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to sell their house.

Shepherds Estate Agents

David managed to sell a property that was in very poor condition for full asking price very quickly. The service was exceptional.

Shepherds Estate Agents

The entire team at Shepherds worked extremely hard at getting my complicated transaction to exchange and completion. They went above and beyond and I’m very grateful for their help
