Good Morning

Well, what can we say?
It seems a little strange to be talking all about us, when really and truly, our business is all about you: your home, your move and your experience. But to give you some background: Shepherd’s first opened in Hertford on February 14th 1976 – Valentine’s Day. At the time, the average sale price in Hertford was about £14,000; a pint of beer was 32p; and everything we did was hand written or typed …and when the existence of private landlords was still a rarity.

While today’s house prices are unrecognisable and technology has transformed the way property is marketed – let’s not even discuss the cost of a pint! – the fundamental principles of exceptional customer service and doing right by everyone remain as strong today as the day we opened. Possibly why we’ve been here so long. Shepherds has been a thoroughly modern and thoroughly local estate agent for every day of its considerable lifetime. We’ve consistently sought out new technologies and always remained open to change, with a team of people who live in – and love – the neighbourhood.

Most of all, Shepherds is built on a simple and timeless formula: helpful local people, helping local people move.

BUSY TOWN CENTRE PREMISES OPEN SEVEN DAYS A WEEK

So it’s essential to open on Saturday and Sunday to seize and capitalise on potential opportunities. Weekends are perfect for Open Days and to arrange multiple viewings in straight succession to generate maximum enthusiasm and commitment from buyers. Sundays provide an extra opportunity to keep up momentum from any Saturday activity, instead of waiting till Monday.

Shepherds Estate Agents

We felt our sale was dealt with very well. It was set up promptly, we were kept well informed and we were given good advice. They were helpful, without being pushy. We had had valuations of the property done with Shepherds a couple of times over the previous few years and they didn't hassle us for a sale at all. The staff in the Hertford site were friendly, efficient and did what they said they would. There was only one oversight made on the house plan, but this was corrected immediately with apologies. They were diligent with checking progress of the sale with us, our buyers and both solicitors, and answered queries promptly. We are happy with how Shepherds managed our sale, and would be confident to use them again in the future.

Shepherds Estate Agents

As first time sellers, we are very happy with the service provided by the team at Shepherds. Their terms of business are simple and transparent. We had the perfect buyer on the first viewing and the sale then progressed smoothly and efficiently to completion. We would happily recommend Shepherds to our friends and family.

Shepherds Estate Agents

I bought a house that was being sold by Shepherds, and I had a brilliant experience with the company. They kept me informed throughout the process, were responsive to questions and always willing to help. Roz is amazing - she chased up and down the chain, always knew what was going on, and really helped to get everyone moving.

Shepherds Estate Agents

The experience of selling our home after many years and at a particularly difficult time was made all the easier by the the team at Shepherds. From the initial valuation meeting to the dedicated sale facilitation service was both professional and efficient. Staff were either available when needed or, if not, would contact you in a most timely manner and were most helpful in sourcing help where needed, such as house clearance etc. I would certainly recommend this firm wholeheartedly.

Shepherds Estate Agents

A very professional, polite and valued service from start to finish. Glad to have chosen Shepherds as they made the sale process very simple and hassle free. Recommended.

Shepherds Estate Agents

Shepherds Estate Agents

Just bought a Hertford house through Shepherds - helpful, friendly, efficient.

Shepherds Estate Agents

Great team who were helpful and responsive, excellent marketing with good advice and high number of viewings set up. The progression of the sale was ok but not as robust, would have been good to have had faster and more regular updates, however it is acknowledged how very busy the market is at this time. Overall we would recommend, thank you

Shepherds Estate Agents

Decided to sell in the middle of a pandemic and take advantage of the stamp duty holiday so we wanted to use a local firm with a good reputation. nWe chose Shepherds and they did not disappoint us. nFirstly we could see the photos from Shepherds on Rightmove were some of the best along with the sales literature, making their properties stand out from the crowd. Thank you Peter for your contribution. nDavid came to see us for the valuation and we could tell he had excellent knowledge of the local market, so pitched the price exactly where we thought it should be. nWe had a procedable offer agreed very quickly, literally within 3 or 4 days. nThen we had some problems with our vendor pulling out at a late stage leaving us nowhere to go, so had to start searching for a new property again. nRoz our Sales Progressor did an excellent job of keeping everyone in the chain informed and providing us with some good advice, also helping with communications to all the Solicitors throughout the sale. Her experience of dealing with house sales and solicitors is exceptional. Not something I would like to do too frequently. nAlso, the office is in town centre near a car park, which is handy for dropping off Keys, documents etc. nI would definitely recommend using Shepherds.
